This button contact film / conductive button membrane is designed as a replacement part for the Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Edge Wireless Controller.

The flexible contact film is located inside the controller and provides the electrical contact areas for the corresponding front buttons.

The film includes contact areas for:

• D-Pad / Directional Buttons
• Action Buttons – Cross, Circle, Triangle and Square

When a button is pressed, the corresponding rubber/silicone membrane presses against the contact area on the film, allowing the controller to register the button input.

A damaged, worn or interrupted conductive film can cause individual buttons to stop responding or work only intermittently.

The DualSense Edge Controller must be opened and partially disassembled to replace the contact film.

Typical Fault Symptoms

Replacing the button contact film may be useful for problems such as:

• Individual action buttons do not respond

⚠️ Not every button problem is caused by the contact film. Worn or incorrectly positioned silicone membranes, dirty contact surfaces, mechanical button damage or other internal controller faults can cause similar symptoms.

Function

The film contains conductive traces and contact areas for the controller buttons.

When a button is pressed, the corresponding rubber membrane actuates the appropriate contact area, allowing the controller electronics to detect the input.

The film itself does not contain conventional mechanical switches and is positioned internally between the relevant button, membrane and electronic components.

⚠️ The standard DualSense and DualSense Edge use different internal designs. This contact film is specifically intended for the DualSense Edge Controller.

Installation

The DualSense Edge Controller must be opened and partially disassembled to replace the button contact film.

During installation:

• Completely switch off the controller
• Disconnect any USB cable
• Carefully open the controller housing
• Disconnect the battery before further disassembly
• Carefully remove the existing contact film
• Check the contact areas for dirt or damage
• Correctly position the replacement film
• Avoid bending, creasing or tearing the film
• Make sure the silicone membranes are correctly positioned
• Check all contact and connection areas
• Reassemble the controller correctly

The thin conductive traces and contact areas should be handled carefully and must not be damaged with sharp tools.
