This original disc drive tray slider / guide was removed from the optical drive of a Sony PlayStation 2 FAT SCPH-39004.

The white plastic component is part of the internal disc tray mechanism. It moves inside the optical drive and works together with the guide mechanism underneath the disc tray.

One particularly important part is the protruding guide pin at the top. This pin engages with the corresponding guide track on the disc tray and helps coordinate the opening and closing movement of the drive mechanism.

On older PS2 drives, this plastic guide pin can break or become damaged. If the pin is missing, the disc tray may no longer interact correctly with the slider. This can cause the tray to jam, remain closed or fail to eject properly.

The offered replacement is a genuine original part removed from an SCPH-39004 console (Original Pulled). Due to its age and previous use, cosmetic signs of wear may be present.

✅ Features

• Original PS2 FAT optical drive component
• Disc drive slider / tray guide
• Removed from SCPH-39004
• Installed inside the optical disc drive
• White plastic mechanical component
• Integrated guide pin for the disc tray mechanism
• Integrated toothed section
• Part of the tray opening and closing mechanism
• Original Pulled / removed from console
• Used condition
• Signs of use may be present
• Ideal replacement for a damaged or broken slider
• No electronic components
• No soldering required

Typical Fault Symptoms

Replacing this component may be useful if:

• Disc tray no longer ejects
• Disc tray remains stuck inside the console
• Tray only opens partially
• Disc tray does not close correctly
• Drive mechanism jams during opening or closing
• Drive motor can be heard but the tray does not move correctly
• Upper guide pin has broken off
• Slider no longer engages correctly with the disc tray
• Plastic slider is mechanically damaged
• Toothed section of the slider is damaged

Not every eject problem is necessarily caused by this component. Drive belts, gears, motors, switches, alignment or other mechanical components can also cause similar symptoms.

Function of the Drive Slider

The white slider is a mechanical component inside the PS2 FAT optical disc drive.

During operation, the drive mechanism moves the slider while its toothed section interacts with the other mechanical components.

The protruding guide pin engages with the corresponding track of the disc tray. This allows the movements of the internal mechanism and disc tray to work together correctly.

If the guide pin is broken, the motor and gears may still operate while the tray itself can no longer be moved correctly.

Marking DK1A

The offered plastic component has the marking:

DK1A

When selecting a replacement, we recommend comparing the original component with the product images.

In particular, check:

• Overall shape
• Position and shape of the guide pin
• Toothed section
• Guide points and tracks
• DK1A marking

Installation

This component is installed inside the optical disc drive of the PlayStation 2 FAT.

The console and optical drive must be opened to replace the slider.

During installation, make sure that:

• Slider is correctly positioned inside the drive mechanism
• Toothed section is properly aligned
• Guide pin is not damaged during installation
• Guide pin correctly engages with the disc tray track
• Disc tray is not forced into position
• Mechanism moves freely before final reassembly

Incorrect positioning of the slider or guide pin may prevent the disc tray from opening or closing correctly.

No soldering is required for replacement.

Compatibility

✅ Compatible with:

• Sony PlayStation 2 FAT SCPH-39004 with corresponding optical drive mechanism
• PS2 FAT optical drives using the same slider / guide design

The offered original component was removed directly from an SCPH-39004.

⚠️ Different optical drive mechanisms and revisions were used in PS2 FAT consoles. We therefore recommend comparing the original part with the product images before ordering.

Pay particular attention to:

• Overall shape
• Guide pin position
• Toothed section
• Guide points
• DK1A marking

❌ Not suitable without prior comparison for:

• PS2 FAT drives with a different mechanism
• Different slider / guide designs
• Sony PlayStation 2 Slim
• SCPH-7xxxx Slim consoles
• SCPH-9xxxx Slim consoles

⚠️ Please Note

The protruding guide pin at the top of the component is particularly important. This pin engages with the corresponding guide track of the disc tray.

On older PS2 drives, this plastic pin can break off or become damaged. If this happens, the disc tray may no longer move correctly and may, for example, fail to eject.

During installation, it is equally important to ensure that the guide pin is correctly positioned in the disc tray mechanism. An incorrectly installed slider may also cause the tray to jam.

This part was removed from a Sony PlayStation 2 FAT SCPH-39004. As different PS2 optical drive variants exist, we recommend carefully comparing the shape, guide pin, toothed section and DK1A marking with the original component.

This is a used Original Pulled replacement part. Age-related discolouration, abrasion, dirt or other cosmetic signs of previous use may be present.
