The HOP-BX210 is a replacement laser pickup for the optical Blu-ray drive of the Microsoft Xbox Series X.

If your console no longer recognises inserted discs, games or movies are read unreliably, or repeated read errors occur, a worn or faulty laser pickup may be the cause.

Replacing the HOP-BX210 laser allows you to repair the optical drive without replacing the complete drive assembly.

⚠️ Important: Disc reading problems are not necessarily caused by the laser. Similar symptoms can also be caused by contamination, mechanical drive problems, the spindle motor, damaged cables or the drive electronics.

Installation

To replace the laser, the Xbox Series X must be opened and the Blu-ray drive removed and disassembled.

The existing laser pickup can then be replaced with the HOP-BX210 unit.

⚠️ Anti-static solder point / transport protection:

Replacement laser pickups may feature an anti-static solder bridge to protect the sensitive laser electronics during transport.

If the supplied laser has such a solder bridge, it must be professionally removed before installation and operation.

Please compare the replacement unit carefully with the original laser before installation.

Important When Replacing the Laser

When replacing only the laser pickup, you do not normally need to replace or transfer the drive controller board.

This is different from replacing the complete optical drive, where the original drive electronics may need to be retained.

Therefore, a laser pickup replacement should not be confused with replacing the complete Xbox Series X Blu-ray drive.
